Do you enjoy working with people?
Have you held a full UK or EU licence for 3.5 years?
Have you less than 6 penalty points on your licence?
Can you read a normal size number plate from 27.5 metres (90 ft)?
Are you free from any offence committed in the last 10 years that might prevent you from becoming a Driving Instructor ie: assault, bank robbery etc?
CRB Checks:
Before you can register with the DSA and apply for the part 1 test, you must apply for the criminal records checks. Below you will find out about the 3 qualifying stages of being an Approved Driving Instructor.
PART 1 Theory & Hazard Perception test:
The part 1 test is a test of your knowledge of the Highway Code, Instructional techniques amongst other things. The theory part of the test consists of 100 multiple choice questions. You must achieve at least 85% to pass the theory test. The hazard perception test contains 14 video clips. You must score 57 points out of 75 to pass the test. We at Road Runner Instructor training will provide all the books and cd’s in a starter pack to help you pass the part 1 test. These books and CD’s can be easily studied at home. However if you need extra help you can visit our office and we will help you. With commitment anyone can pass the part 1 test.
PART 2 the Driving Ability test:
The driving ability test is a test of your skills. We will train you fully for this test. You will be amazed how quickly your driving will improve to the DSA standard. We are confident that our professional trainers will train you very quickly, efficiently and thoroughly so that you can pass your test first time round.
PART 3 Instructional Ability test:
After passing the part 2 test, forty hours of training will be provided. After the forty hours you can apply for a trainee licence, which lasts for 6 months.
While you are on the trainee licence you can earn and learn at the same. The trainee licence will give you useful experience, which will be a very big help to pass your final test.
After you pass your part 3 test, you can call yourself DRIVING STANDARDS AGENCY APPROVED DRIVING INSTRUCTOR.
